Want to Know How to Make My Crust Melt?

Things that make my heart go putter patter.
Things that make me feel warm and fuzzy.
Things that make me feel safe and secure.
Things that help remind me that I've got a good doctor.
Things that show me how wonderful my family is.
Things that show me how great a group of friends I have.
-and how much I miss my forever ones-

  1. Getting this email from a friend that I grew up with, found and reconnected with (keep in mind I got this email right in the middle of the part when Mack meets his callers in the book, THE SHACK. To me this was a powerful soothing reminder. Thank you Alina! I hope you don't mind me sharing this with everyone, but it's not everyday you get something so beautiful, comforting and wonderful from a good friend):

"hey, how are you feeling? i was just praying. i hope you're feeling a bit better. i'm so sorry you're sick. i wish i was there. did you know you're a proverbs 31 friend? :) :)

"of noble character" --- only the greatest friends track you down after 20 years say hi and make sure you're doing okay.

"worth far more than rubies" --- liz some of my favorite childhood memories are of you and me...sneaking our first beer in my parents' basement...singing our ridiculous songs...

"brings good, not harm, all the days of her life" - when someone I thought was my friend slandered me, you didn't even listen to it.

"selects wool and flax and works with eager hands" - hmmmm - i'm sure you washed lots of dishes and vacuumed lots, and the shopping! oh the shopping we must do for our families! ;)

"she is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while is is still dark, she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls" - I'm sure you've cleaned Turkey's for Thanksgiving, in today's world that counts. :) When I was pregnant with Nick you offered to send me your old baby clothes.

"she plants a vineyard" - of amazing friends and family - you take good care of your friends & family.

"she sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks" - in all my memories of you you're always smiling & happy, even in your emails to me the tone is smiling.

"She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy" - giving, that's you.

"She is clothed with strength and dignity" :)

"She can laugh at the days to come". - I have all your old letters. When I visit I'll bring them.

"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue" - I love all your quotes at the end of your emails. I've saved a few of them to hang on my classroom wall when I go back to teaching someday.

"She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."

Even if the worst happens, it doesn't change how wonderful you are. I'm praying for you. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do. I wish I was there so I could clean and cook and take you to a movie to get your mind off of things, or to a comedy show to make you laugh. You're a really great friend. :)

2. Waking up to your husband whispering loving wonderful words to your ears.

3. Having your oldest son go upstairs and lay out your pj's for you, just the way you usually do it.

4. Having a 45minute face to face conversation with your doctor, without paying for it regarding the surgery tomorrow. Not only having a conversation, but having laughing and soothing words mixed into the chatter. When the doctor first walks into the room, the kind old man bring in a one glass of lemon water. I thought it was for him, he surprised me by saying, "here you go, have something to hydrate you while we talk, the lemon will help soothe any nerves you may have regarding tomorrow, and calm you, one of the many things I learned while running the clinics/missionaries out in Ecuador twice a year for 2weeks at a time.

5. Having your closest girlfriends make sure that they're kept in the loop and ask to have updates from your beloved, regarding surgery tomorrow. Asking for updates and sending positive well wishes..(makes me miss them even more).

6. Having more then 10 different moms tell you that they're bringing meals over, taking your kids off your hands, bringing you magazines, books..I told them all thank you, but we'll be fine. But said if they were set on preparing a meal, to make it and drop it off at the Peoples Resource Center or our Local Pads shelter as meals are definitely needed there. (Yes, I still volunteer from time to time)

7. Getting humorous text msgs from your friends, reminding you that they're out there and thinking of you.

8. Having a husband that isn't afraid to cook, clean and do the laundry. That will play with your hair, your most favorite thing in the world, to help you fall asleep because you're crying with how much it hurts.

9. Having sisters that want to come over and help out as much as they can. Take the kids, make a meal, sit with Brian-never mind that they have busy little ones themselves.

10. Having parents that want to take your kids, want to pick them up, and want to take the pain away from you.

These are just a few things that make my crusties melt.

Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon around 315-3:30pm. The "set time' is 3:25 and I think it is just hilarious so I'm giving it the old ballpark route. The good news is tomorrow we'll know what route we have to take. If things look good inside the areas he's checking, my ovaries check out fine, then we'll know we're dealing with something in my uterus. But he's well aware that my uterus is not something I'm ready to part with at this time. The only way I'm willing to give it up is if there was something like cancer in there, but I have good thoughts that it's totally not that.

Thanks for your thoughts. Thanks for being a friend. A forever friend. A family member that loves you. A forever family member that never leaves you.

I don't know about the Proverbs 31 friend thing. But I am a somewhat regular* reader who wishes you nothing but the very best.

Hugs.
