Recently

Recently I spent all day on a pruning out in our yard. Using our manual "hedge" clippers, I trimmed every single bush, branch and tree. There are quite a few evergreens and bushes that need constant maintenance in our front and back yard. So, bug up my rear, I started the trimming.

We worked all day up until about 4pm. The kids would pick the leaves up and put them in the brown bags that we pay to send off with the garbage man. Ben sat chilling in his stroller,(not all day, don't worry!!) Bigdogg did most of the picking up, as I Edward Scissorhanded my way around the entire yard.

Standing on ladders, and crouching beneath the "brush" was a great way to spend the day.

The day just flew by-and yet;

My fingers were swollen.
My hands hurt.
My arms ached.
My shoulders were throbbing.
It got to the point that I couldn't even smoke a cigarette- my hands were shaking from the manual cutting.

Work finished!!

I started cleaning the garage next-mainly due to the fact that I was looking for an old high school photograph. Now, we've been in our home here since December, but unfortunately, I haven't found the right place for a few boxes that are out in our garage.

While moving boxes around I stumbled across something the previous home owner left behind-electric hedge trimmers.

Maybe I should have cleaned out the garage first...........

Welcome To crustybeef~
You can imagine how crusty I was after that experience.

If trimming shrubs in the old-fashioned way keepsyou from smoking then keep on trimming!

This ain't a lecture, just a tip from a doting uncle to his bright niece.

You sound like me. When I get going, I don't stop. I have an electric hedge trimmer, but it's still really hard. It weighs a lot, and you have to hold it vertically and horizontally while making sure you don't cut any body parts off. I hate the needles and leaves that fall on the mulch so I wrap each one with a sheet for the foliage to fall on. It actually works quite well. All my bushes need trimming, but I don't want to (whine, whine). I hope you're not too sore tomorrow.

i'm not laughing at you, but i did have to giggle - i so know that feeling! good job though, at least it's done now...and since they need constant maintenance, at least now you will have the trimmers for next time:)

Isn't that how it always works? Truth is, you would have gotten finished earlier with the electric, but it wouldn't have given the same sense of satisfaction. Some things are better when they come with aches and sweat.

Funny thing is no matter how much it hurt that day, you always feel even more sore the next day!

I have been in this house since February and I still have about twelve boxes I have not unpacked yet. One day...
