Fallows Tears

The one that smiles all the time woke up to dread.
The day ahead, faced full body, but still empty.
Remembering the words of her in law pedigree, the dread trying to be swallowed like the pink colored tablets used to help numb the physical pain.

Trying to ignore the fears of the realization.
"Don't worry, you will have anxiety, I did, and you know how strong I am," says the matriarch.
"When it surfaces, it's all normal, look, it even happened to me, it's all normal. Just be ready for it. Be prepared. I just wanted to let you know."

Not needing to hear that in recovery. Not needing to look for anxiety.
Waiting for anxiety to delve her tight grasp around your heart.
The heart rate increase.
The flush colored neck,
The tightening of the throat,
Not being able to swallow back the lump
The effect it has on the breathing.

Oh those tears!
The tears begin to fall so easily that you can't catch them in time. Usually a quick swallow and everything is magically held back, surface appears as normal.

But this time, like all the snowflakes waiting to blanket us with cold, surprising and sudden, the waiting for it is near over.

They fall, those tears, they fall in breathless anxiety.
No reason for depression.
Hormones aren't affected after all.
Nothing natal about it this time, right?
Wrong! It is all natal because it's no more natal.
The focus on improving, resting, shifting to those words from the loved one.
She means well, but a slip in remembering the soul that she speaks with.
To expect the panic.

Panic isn't enjoyable when it's in anticipation.
It hurts.
Suddenly for no reason she finds herself cleaning up after the mess that was sung as blubbering.
Whimpering.

The much anticipated nerve reflex finally arrived.
"WHAT DID I DO?"
Overwhelmed.
Tears and tears like you'd see when one is kneeling to say goodbye one last time at a mourning wake.

The shock of the coldness brings her back to reality.
The reality that it cannot be undone.
Not that she'd want it to be.

After the heaving,
Intense whimpering,
Overcoming the flushed pulse beating through her barren body,
She looks up to the sky, silently wills herself to be content, and then a bird is seen overhead.
In the Ginkgo tree near by.
The empty leafless tree doesn't stop her from singing.
Just because change has blown away life, doesn't mean the bird cannot still sing her special
powerful intense song.
While the weather is growing cold,
Waiting anytime now for the blanket of snow, that colorful bird is seen.
Red the reminder of passion and excitement.
The reminder of her own strong voice.
A female bird that sends the intuitive glance to listen within herself.
To open up just a bit more her ears, her eyes, to allow herself the tears
But just for a little while.

Teaching that tearful woman by the flight of her ascent into the sky, how to help improve her Voice, and embracing the raw moments of her emotions, the truth is seen.
A representation of change, things in 12.

She, the mere two legged human is now at peace.
Needing that moment of intense emotional relapse,
The strength that came from the fallen tears
The brief moment of doubt
Along with the panic attack
Helped her to see so much more,
And she turned, smiling, as she prepare for the exciting rest of her life.

Welcome To Crustybeef~
I am okay.
I am guessing that swing was due to coming off the pain medication.
And I am glad, especially now, and once again, that my mother in law was right.
I am glad for the new me, the change that I decided, but that won't stop me from singing my song even though the leaves have fallen.

The Humor Is There

Can't write too much.
Still terribly sore and in pain. The gas pain has localized and is "stuck" behind my left shoulder blade, but I'm keeping up on my GAS-X tablets to help minimize the irritation.
The area most painful is due to the fact that she had to cut out a pretty amount of scar tissue, from my 3 csections..that will take awhile but a new day and less pain is how I look at it.
The pain is nasty if I'm not swimming in the pain meds, (which are Darvocet and Toredol(sp?)).
Therefore I'm following the proper dosage amounts and hope to begin taking regular Tylenol tomorrow.

I had a smooth procedure, doc said everything went well, and said to say bye bye to those "little friends" the cinfullycysts.

I did have a slight issue with my heart rate, apparently it skyrocketed when they reversed the general to bring me back to aware world. The rates are supposed to go back to "normal" gradually, but my heart rate shot up.

I asked for the patch.
They gave me the patch and stuck it behind my ear, as well as a drink of some reflux salty tasting sweetart flavoring chalky drink prior to surgery.

While in recovery,I had multiple doses of Zofran, (Zoltan!! hee-hee, cheesy funny movie! Have you seen my car?) and maxed out my limit with them fairly quickly.

The Demerol they were giving me, while in recovery, made me dizzy and sick to my stomach, , so I opted to wait until I could manage swallowing a pill and just dealt with the pain because of the affects I had from the Demerol. I hated that feeling, so groggy and out of it and the sounds of the machines that were beeping really made it worse for some reason.

All is good, recovery is slow but improving..my sleep is awful, but that will improve too.
My surgeon/gyne gal doc called to see how I was feeling.
The head charge nursed called to see how I was doing, as well as the recovery nurse..so I am quite content with their follow up. Follow up is so important in any job that is done. Going an extra inch makes a huge difference.

But, you're more interested in what happened while I was coming out of the general, right?
What sort of kookie things did I say?

What happens to Crusty while under a general anesthetic?:

"Where are all those young boys that I was high-fiving?"

"What time is it? I have to be home by 12:30 to take Jackson to school."

"Did I have an accident on the operating table?"

"What time is it? I have to be home by 12:30 to take Jackson to school."

"Where are those little boys that were giving me high 5's?

"Did I poop on the operating table when the music was playing?"

"What time is it? Is it 12:30 yet? I have to be home to take Jackson to school."

"I think I pooped on the operating table, did I?"

According to my foggy memory, as well as the information from my recovery nurses, those are the questions I continued to ask, over and over and over and Over and OVER again...

Welcome To Crustybeef~
Time to go back and "rest." I'll RYAL!!
At least my humor is there, right?

How Do You Know?

How do you know when you're ready to have children?
With some of us it just "happens" before we're ready.
-Before the rings have been placed gingerly on our finger under G-ds watchful eyes.-

How do you know how many children to have?
Or if you're even willing to run for the role as a parental candidate?

Those decisions are all difficult ones to make.
There are no answers from us humans to aid with the decision to have a child.

For us, the only reason why we went for number three was to 'attempt' at creating a little girl.
Obviously G-d had different plans for us, and provided us with a busy household of boys.

Psalm 127:3-5 says, “Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.”

But to go for a fourth is not an option for us.
Does that mean that God will be mad at us?

If so, then I guess it means he's really irritated with those married folks that have yet to give him even one little guy or girl to grow up in a world of discontentment, selfishness, and extreme materialism.

God declares that Children are a reward. And I'm not about to create an opinion on something that the Main Man Himself has declared His Word. It's okay to not have the desire to have children. It's okay to not enjoy being around children. It's even okay to roll your eyes and begin searching for a safer haven when you're heading out on a much needed vacation only to get stuck with a kid sitting in front of you on the airplane.

Sometimes due to medical reasons one can debate whether or not a child should be brought into the family due to your own health issues. (i.e. disabilities run in your family’s genes,etc, etc) But what if you were to put your trust into God? After all, He is in control and he'll figure out how to iron out the kinks-to arrange the details, so to speak. I remember a story I came across once (perhaps it was a blog, I can't remember) but it was about this girl in college who was going to get a hysterectomy because of the fact that she had a mental illness, it so happened to run rapid in her family genes as well. She ended up not getting one, later married, and would you believe she actually had a perfectly healthy happy child? All those sleepless college nights over her concerns about passing along a "deformity" and look, G-d took care of her child's well being!

So, when is the right time to start a family?
When is the right time to grow your family?
To go from One to Two..From Two To Three?

Oh and what about my career! It's really getting going now!! I can't start a family now, I need to make money..I still need to travel to Europe..

The Biblical answer would be to put your family first over your career.
Genesis 1:27-28 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."”

G-d says that children are a 'blessing.'

Now don't get me wrong, I don't think that you're "hurting" Him by not having children. If anything you're only hurting yourself because in the long run, children are the greatest blessing you can find. You would be missing out on so much. According to my faith, God blesses parents with years of enjoyment with their children, that cannot be compared to anything else. I would think that the only way you could make him unhappy is by your attitude and by not trusting him enough to give you the support you need when it comes to raising children. BELIEVE me, I need ALL the support in the world with my own buggerboos!!!

I was blessed yesterday with that type of enjoyment that you can only get from children:

1) Sullivan bit Jackson on the arm
2) Jackson told Sullivan that he doesn't like him anymore
3) Benjamin pulled out garbage from the trash can and tried trailing it through the kitchen
4) They cried that I served them ground beef with ketchup and peas and carrots for dinner (did I mention that there was also fries, garlic noodles, and strawberry applesauce?!)
5) Ben turns his face away from food when he doesn't "like it."
6) Sullivan woke up at 6:07am
7) Jackson woke up with a bad dream about being bit by a squirrel at 6:30 and didn't go back to bed.
8) Sullivan complained that he wasn't sitting in the "way back" with Jackson in the mommovile
9) Jackson whined that he was sitting in the "way back" all by himself
10) Benjamin refused to nap in the afternoon yesterday.

At the time it wasn't enjoyment for me. It was painful-hairpulling-counting-to-ten-overcoming the urge to just fall off the wagon into the arms of Sir Nic- fun.

But as faith says, it shows itself to you when you reflect. Times of reflection when you don't even realize that you're, well, reflecting!! OR thinking peaceful thoughts.

It showed up in the form of grocery store shopping with my three children.

Through the sweet reminder from a stranger, a woman passed her age of child bearing, looking down at the boys as they pushed their mini-carts down the aisle ramming into each other like cars in a stock car race.
She stops and smiles and says "how cute they are." "How precious it is to see such adventurous boys. Such passion for life,"she says to me as she looks down at them smiling.
"This is the best part right now," she says.
"This is when they need you the most."
"This is when they care about their mom." "This time right now is the easiest."

Um, easiest? Do I need to run through my list again?

"This is when they still talk to their mom," she says, and then follows up with, "enjoy the noise,the constant motion, all of their mini actions, because you never know what they'll turn out to be like someday. And someday they may not want to have anything to do with you. They may not want to return your calls, or come running to you with a problem."

Someone could take that as sad, or dysfunctional, that her boys don't have a speaking relationship with their mom. I mean, who doesn't want to speak to their mom? Who doesn't want to have a relationship with their children? Unfortunately, I know quite a few people that live their lives that way.
It suits them fine.
It's dysfunction, it's sad and it's part of life.

Which is why I'm glad to have found my faithful reflection in the Frozen section of aisle A4.
Because I don't know if they'll turn out to be "okay." I don't know if we'll have a good speaking relationship when they're adults in their 30's. I can try as hard as I can, but that doesn't guarantee success. I could display perfection and never make a mistake as a mom (HA!) and that still does NOT guarantee well rounded adults.

I have to just enjoy the now. The hectic time when they come running to me with tears of pain when a toy isn't shared. When they "lose" the race up the driveway on their push pedal trikes. When they don't want to eat their peas and groundbeef because by doing so will make their "tummy hurt lots a bits!" When they have a nightmare of being bitten by a squirrel. When they feel alone because they enjoy staring at the stars whereas their friends would rather throw around a football.

This is the time that they actually communicate every ounce of who they are to me. Every piece of them, every raw emotion isn't yet tainted by the costumed world you start to see as you develop into adulthood. As each year moves on, as school years advance they will begin to pull away, to become their own person. The loose veil of innocence unravels like a childs favorite blankie with each year that passes.

I had my reminder of how they are a blessing to me. I had my questions answered about "how will I know I'm ready to be a parent?" "How will I know when it's time to have another one?"

As of Late, I've been dealing with another new type of question. Actually I've been faced with this question for the past 15months:

"How will I know when I've maxed out my credit limit on children?"

I know that children are a gift from G-d but how much is too much? The Bigdogg and I create added anxiety over engaging in sex because neither of us want to "have" another child. There is birth control such as the pill, and now that I'm no longer part of the Sir Nic club that could be a thought. However, I did conceive Jackson on the pill. Yes, a story for another time, but I have to say that I am of that 1% that can actually GET pregnant with birth control.

But am I ready to permanently close that chapter on my tubes? To cauterize the anxiety from ever creeping into my uterus again?

That's the conflicting issue I face. I don't want another child. I know the stress of having three. I live it every day. Blessings and all, I don't want to abuse my limit. Just because the credit limit is open ended, doesn't mean I should max it out.

From a faith stand point I have to remember that it is thru G-d that my household has been built. To maintain the outlook that we can do it ourselves, without faith, is just another frantic attempt that will demolish over time. To base life on "our way is the best way we don't need to believe in the unknown," will only lead to a foundation based on material prosperity and social acceptability. With that approach, it's no wonder many homes have their foundations crumbling beneath their feet.

I think to myself that I will be going against His will should I have a tubal ligation. But I have sinned with other things..and I am not admitting perfect. Rather the opposite. I am admitting that I have yet to learn.

The crossroad of this question for me is that even though I do not want anymore children, even though I ask that my womb be closed, am I ready to surgically close it doing it my way? It seems so permanent- regardless of if it's me or Bigdogg-to be snipped, cut, or tied. Taking faith out of the equation, I still don't want anymore children. But to block it, to grow scar tissue around the tied strings, seems so empty.

Like a good book that you never want to finish, although you're on that last chapter, I'm struggling with whether or not I want to put that book up on the top shelf, to never have the option to read it again. Even though I don't want to read it ever again, just knowing that it's there for me, should I want to read it, is comforting.

Crazy huh?

Welcome To Crustybeef~
My appointment is Nov 1st to talk with my OB about removing my lovely cyst surgically. AND, to take apart the bridge that has been the gateway for my three eggs to make it thru the tunnel of my fallopian tubes to give me the fun blessings that I am so grateful to have. SO GRATEFUL in fact, that I am not willing to remove the status of middle child by making a fourth.

So I will continue to count my blessings.......
and I'm stopping at three.

Hemorrhagic Cyst

That's my results.
A 3cm Hemorrhagic Cyst.

They do dissolve.
They do take away to go away. They do cause a lot of pain, but not risky as long as the size of the cyst remains low, and it doesn't keep developing monthly after the body attempts to mend itself.

However according to the ultrasound I just had, it's redeveloped-but it's only at 3cm right now.
If the pain consists during my Pam cycle, a quick course of action will take place-Surgery.

However, if the pain isn't with Pam, than they'll monitor me, and retake more tests during these next 2month cycles.

My Ob doesn't want to do surgery unless it grows over 5cm, or the pain comes back. Then it'll either just be an emergency surgery or a scheduled one.

As long as it doesn't get big, I don't have to worry about the cyst rupturing causing internal bleeding. At this point (or their guess from last month) it's small enough to rupture, bleed out and dissolve without damage to me.

My Ob said going forward, to call, make an appt and come in if periods get painful. She said it's not worth waiting due to pride or trying to be strong to go through the painful cycle.
Why do you think they say Ovarian cancer is a silent disease? Because women ignore the tiniest things, like cramps getting worse (can be different reasons) but all in all, she said, anytime your body changes drastically with pain, to always call your doctor.

Had I gone in when all this first started, she'd have a better idea of how big the cyst was then, or to see how much growth it's done these past 3-4months of painful visits.

The pain was horrific, and do I want to have to endure that each month? No, but I don't want surgery, and until it grows, or causes a risk of internal bleeding our course of action with my female Ob will be to just wait it out.

Waiting sucks, but so far, no pain.
Granted, I have another few days before Pam will show us otherwise.
Yet, I have good hopes that all will be well. I have to be positive!

Welcome To Crustybeef~

ARE YOU SERIOUS CLARK?

So, tonight was my next pelvic ultrasound test that they had to do while Pam's visiting-it's necessary.

Since my 20's Pam has visited on and off every 4-5weeks for 7days.

These past months since May-since around the time I stopped taking the Zoloft for my depression, she's been showing up every 6-7weeks for her usual 7 days.

So, 7 days has been consistent-for years now. I think since I first met her when I was 16, she stuck around for 7..

Ah yes, lucky number 7...

Meanwhile, back to the test...

It was set up for tonight with 32oz of water in me to arrive at the hospital at 9:45pm.
It had to be done in the window of time that Pam was going to be here.
We were covered until Sunday, there was time left..

Or, so we thought...

Story of my life!
Around 3pmish, I noticed that her suitcase was missing. I checked around the house to see if she was still around and things seemed quiet. She had a few items of clothes scattered about the house, but it was clear that she was on her way out of here.
I had no clue what her flight time was, as I said, she wasn't due to leave until Sunday.
When, you ask? Not sure, but Sunday?
Yes, a given.

Nope! She's gone as of 6:45pm...tonight-friday night.
No point in going to do the test when my gynie gal needed Pam to be here. I mean I could go and have the test, but then gynie gal would request a test next month when Pam's back, and that means 2 tests instead of 1. Which means more $$ spent towards medical...which is truly an irritating thing.

I mean, are you SERIOUS CLARK??
The past 16+ years she's been here for 7days...and now?
NOW she decides to leave early?
Stupid b.i.t.c................

SERIOUSLY!
It reminds me of the car that makes a noise until you take it into the garage to be looked at.
So if you want her to leave your home? Just schedule an appointment for maintenance work on your "folly phalanges,"and she'll high tail it outta there.

Story of my Life~
Now, pardon me, there's a bottle of wine that needs toasting to!

Funky Follicles

Thanks to all of you that left comments on my previous post titled, Ruptured. I felt so warmed by all your well wishes, and partially a bit silly, after all, there are so many of you out there in blogging land battling far worse than a silly crusty cyst. So, thank you for the kind words, warm thoughts, and humorous chuckles-you all just made my night!

The Pelvic Ultrasound: I've had this type of cheeky procedure before while pregnant with Benjamin. They hadn't been able to "find" him when he was a 7 week old baby in utero with the regular ultrasound machine, so they had to go looking in "the mines" so to speak.

Uncomfortable, yes. Painful? Nahh.

From what my amazing gynie told me today was that (As my COUSIN's BLOGGING TOO!! mentioned as well) we (LADIES) all have follicles that grow in/on the ovaries (each month) that race to be the first one to meet the hopeful tail. Generally speaking without taking a walk down biology lane, only one obviously makes it to the finish line in the female race. The rest just go away, heads hanging, having not been the fastest to meet the male tail at the end of the race.

We all get them, but they're supposed to return home after the big race. They're supposed to shrink back down until they begin making preparations for the next race the following month. That's the norm.

What happened in "my house" is the funky follicles that didn't win the race never shrank back and returned home. They kept growing even after the race. They obviously got too big for their home and "broke."

The pain was horrible!! Doubled over the other night, sweating profusely, I couldn't even move off the couch. According to my "Gynie gal," this type of growth is not normal, especially after the race is over. When Pam arrives to give the award of crabbiness everything should be sleeping in their little beds. There shouldn't be sore losers still prepping for the race that's already over.

The 5cm+ bugger ruptured. The body will attempt to mend the broken home, and the same thing will occur again. My Gynie Gal plans on having a first row seat to watch my funky follicles at the start of next months race as well as the following month.

The pelvic ultrasound that I had today, I have to follow up with another at our hospital late Friday night. Which is ashame I have to wait until Friday night (at 10:30pm!!!!!) but, there's nothing that we can do about it now, so I just have to be patient. After all, it's already ruptured, already shrinking, so the waiting begins-until the race next month.

She said that draining the cyst won't stop it from growing again. The only option is to remove it from it's home-the crusty cyst, not the ovary!! We are not going down that road as of yet. We're taking the wait and see approach.

And in the mean time, I have a new prescription for Darvocet to help with the pain. I can't quite explain the pain, but if you've ever had kidney stones before, well, it felt similar to that.

Welcome To Crustybeef~
My name precedes my cyst. :)
I'm heading out for an evening smoke, it's 6:53pm on Hump night, anyone want to join me?
SOUL!!, how Are your cheeks feeling?? Soul's had a rough week, go wish her well, if you have time.

Ruptured

Spent over an hour in my "Gynie" office today. She "thinks" I have a ruptured cyst.

Will be following her orders for a pelvic ultrasound, (never thought I'd see an ultrasound machine again...hee-hee) at the hospital.

Be back tomorrow.- That's the plan, at least.

Welcome To Crustybeef~
Damn Pam failed to tell me she brought along a broken loser that didn't win the race.

Uranus Posts and Balances

How many different puns can someone come up with regarding a colonoscopy?

Greek Goddess
She'll be in and out of the procedure
Glaucoma Scope

To name a few.

A dear family member is having this procedure done tomorrow and she's a bit frazzled by the process of it all. The preparation leading up to the probe seems to be the most difficult of the two. (hindsight is twenty twenty) The cleansing of the colon, the clearing of the pipes so the doc can have a sunrise view of the planet URANUS.

Quick someone get Katie Couric on the phone, perhaps she could walk her through it. Or if anything she'd be able to provide live footage of her walk down Tushie Lane.

URANUS. Interesting facts on The planet Uranus.
It's pronounced Yur-IN-is" and not "Your anus."
Funny, how is urine derived from the anus?

Ah, well, can I HELP the fact that my mind works in CRUSTY ways? GEESH!!

Initially planet Uranus, was called "the Georgium Sidus."(the Georgian Planet) in honor of King George III of England. The name "Uranus" was first proposed by German astronomer Johann Elert Bode in order for it to be in conformity with the other planetary names - which are from classical mythology. Uranus is the ancient Greek deity of the Heavens, the earliest supreme god. This name did not achieve common use until 1850.

So, enough chatter about "posterior camera probes."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I decided to continue back on my "anti-depressant." Do I want to ADMIT that I need it? Nope, never! Should I have stopped taking it cold turkey like I did? HELL NO.!But I did and you can't take back the past. From all my mood swings I was well aware that I had a serious balancing issue, or lack there of rather, in my 3lb'r. Having to call my mom bawling that I just can't manage three children under the age of 5 is cause for re-evaluation of the lovely "anti-D."
The actual thought of walking into a "Behavioral Services" establishment and telling the front desk clerk that I am at my lowest mental state and need immediate admittance was like anticipating an upcoming vacation to the island of FIJI.
HONESTLY! THAT'S how intense it was.
So, listening to my BigDog's recommendation, I started back on those "anti-d's."
One a day.
One day at a time. (Great old show, by the way)
Do I have to take them forever? I sure as hell hope not. But, until the hormonal flux settles down, and my body returns to normal post breastfeeding, post partum and postpregnancy, I'll be surrendered to the wonders of that little white pill.
The pill that offers my highs not so high and manages to bring the lows up to a level where I no longer feel the need to stay in bed all day with my covers over my head.
So yes, they're working.
Welcome To Crusty Beef
I have PND but I don't have to have a coli tomorrow. REMEMBER, the grASS isn't ALWAYS greener, now is it? Especially after eating blue jello.
