We WILL always remember where we were that day.
Who was the person that told us the news.

At that time, I was expecting our first child.
I was pregnant with Jackson.
My Firstborn son.

I was due to leave on September 13th to fly into Florida to meet up with Bigdogg.
To attend his HS reunion down in Miami.
He had moved back to Florida April of 2000-yes I stayed here in Illinois.

It all changed on that day the eleventh.
Lost lives.
Lost loves.
Hero's.

Tragic and True we Americans had our faiths tested, that day the eleventh.

I remember sitting at my desk at work, getting the call from Bigdogg down in Florida.
The call of the first plane.

Passing it along to those sitting close by me, my former gigantor of a boss accused me of lying, "That's not true, why would you say something like that, a plane crashing into a building, your boyfriend doesn't know what he's talking about. He should stick to doing his job, instead of bothering you with tall tales from down in Miami." (She was fired a few months after I returned from maternity leave, mainly for her rather harassing management style.) (She was also against single parenthood, come to find out.)

I remember leaving a short time later after Corporate cleared us to go. I remember going home sitting all alone in my one bedroom apartment, with my baby in my belly, crying for fear of what this child will be born into.

But today is to remember our Heroes.
Remember the families, remember your faith, stand strong and true.
Keep Hope on your shoulder, and Comfort as your shadow.
Thinking of All of You.....

They stood hushed and glimmering in the night,
Giants able to frame the moon,
Slumbering magnificently in their might.
Day breaks and the sun gently warms their skin,
Veins begin to pulse with life,
The sprit of a thousand of kin.
Evil tears towards them through the brilliant morning sky,
Propelled by the blackest of hate,
Guided by a lie.
Barely risen they stand with no defense,
Innocent and distracted they are not prepared,
The pain about to be inflicted intense.

Like a bolt of lighting that shatters the morn,
Evil crashes once then twice into their sides,
Their bodies are scorched and torn.

Horribly crippled they continue to stand,
Holding onto life until the last,
Orders are given,
they take the command.

The battle is brief,
the giants begin to yield,
Life drains from every artery,
Their fate is sealed.

Collapsing to zero,
First to one knee then to the next,
From their dust will emerge so many a hero.
The question is asked,
How can such evil exist.

That was a great tribute Crusty. Emily and I spent some time talking about that day. She was in 3rd grade and couldn't understand why so many parents, including me, were picking their children up early. I so wanted to shield her from the horror of that day. Had you ever been in the towers? They were amazing.

good post. and really nice photo too. I was sad today but I think its important to grieve and feel emotions of our collective society.

1. What difference do you want to make on the world in your life?

2. How do you really feel about God?

3. When you leave this earth, what do you want people to remember about you?

4. In your profile, you mention that we can Co-Exist. Is there anyone that does not hold true for?

5. Do you believe in soulmates and why?

There you go girl. I can't wait to hear what you have to say. Thanks for asking on my blog. Love ya!

Soul: awww, thanks!! We will always have our memories. Start a tip jar on your site..we'll donate for the declaw!! Unless of course you need a back scratcher and Soulman is tired..my old cat Bailey worked wonders when he'd "make buscuits on my arm and hair."

Andrew: Thank you very much my friend!! And your comment is why I've always thought that dispite your given hurdles, you'd still be an amazing father. Because only a person with those feelings come from the hidden gift of being a parent. You definitely would be-I have 100% confidence. :)

Cheryl: how was she that day? How did you explain it to her? I still have some time until those questions, to them it will be something from the past, but I have to keep it in the present past to always be as tex says, careful but with open hearts..course, that's like saying I'd like a venti white chocolate fat free mocha with extra EXTRA whip cream. :)
As a young girl, yes, I saw them, but never went in them-we went to the Statue of Liberty instead..

Palm Springs; You are so correct. And we all need to handle it in our way, so long as it's peaceful to us.

Tex; Its painful as parents, isn't it? Now I understand what my parents meant..

abba: Thanks darling! I just posted them..sorry for being long winded. :)

PORTIA: here's a good one for you: Comfort Soul with some Groove mixed in. crustied, not stirred...(yum, sounds like a delicious cocktail!!)

Soul: They were playing night angel? Isn't it awesome? I'm heading out for a smoke now,..9:54pm humpnight..come on and join us-tell soulman to come along for the male comfort..semi- canes!!(sounds like a fat free candy cane, doesn't it??)

Always,
Crusty~

peace. no one will ever forget. it was like America was the stalwart, how can this happen to America, something good shrivelled and died up that day.

then we had issues of our own to deal with, one thing after another, the 2002 serial blasts which have come to trial now, in 2007. the train blasts, commuter trains is how ppl get to work in this city, 200 dead, hundreds maimed, and we have no health insurance. then the blasts in hyderabad, just a few weeks ago, ppl watching a light show, ppl eating street food out for a weekend.
We are on the AQ list as well, right up there with the US and Israel, and we have a neighbour who is willing to help the terrorists.

When I cant figure it out, I say His will and leave it at that.
